RE: How to handle non-RV family that want to borrow your MH?

Easy answer! "Two and ONLY two people sleep in our MH and that happens to be me and the DW! Do you get my point?"

RE: refrigerator side vent- pest control?

I thought screen restricted air flow That's what I thought also. My RV repair guy told me to not put screen over the back.

Using Public Libraries

DW and I are about 24 months from full timing and I wondered if anybody had any experience with using public libraries while being at a location for a month or so? I'm an avid reader and don't want to have to purchase books to read.

RE: roof leak

Are you positive it's a roof leak? Water does funny things.

RE: HR/Monaco Customer Support

HI All I hope this is not a sign for what`s to come. I sent an e-mail (on sep 9th)to Holiday Rambler Tech Support to inquire about any outstanding recalls on the used HR we just purchased. I did got an autoresponse telling me that HR will responde to my request within 48h. It`s now a week and did not hear a thing. I hope that is not a sign for things to come. Usually when a company goes under customer service is the first to go! That was probably a computer generated response. I work with computers and can tell you from experience that with those automated response systems your question doesn't always make it to the customer service personnel. Trying giving them a call, bet you'll get better results.

RE: Fallout

All I can say is that I'm extremely happy and we're very lucky to have sold ours before the crunch hit hard. The down sizing plan has been going on for about 4 years now (when we decided to fulltime). Sold our single family, bought a duplex and sold, and now live in an apartment. We're ready to GO!!

RE: Diesel Fuel Additives

I've put close to a half-million miles on diesel trucks over the years, plus thousands of hours on diesel farm equipment, and never added anything to the fuel. Should have known a statement like that was going to come from a USN MC. Whats up Master Chief?

RE: New Coach Essentials Checklist

Great Dave & Bill, now we're starting to get somewhere. Bill you said "plus two different styles of donuts (mandatory in Fl)." What are these are why are they mandatory in Florida? What kind of filters do you carry? Are there any special tools you would consider "essential"? Is there ever a time where you will need an additional section of 50 amp power cord? KEEP IT COMING FOLKS AND I WILL BUILD THE CHECKLIST... Jarhead, the most important of all items is an American Flag on a pole that will be lighted at night!

RE: How my emergency plans went awry

i was thinking about not renewing my ERS this year but did it any ways a few days ago ,you just gave a good reason to have it even thou i havent had to use it in years. ERS whether it be Good Sam's or Coachnet is just good insurance. Maybe even better than carrying a spare.

RE: HDTV Upgrade

Do you really get all the HD channels? I have Directv and have installed the tri-sat switch and had KVH factory rep adjust everything but still don't get half of the HD channels. I get ESPN but not ESPN2 in HD. I love HD and want what I get a home while on the road. I'm hoping that when Directv get through moving their HD to the new bird, that it will work better. Oldrvdoc, Direct TV is moving all their HD programing to their KA band from the KU band. Once HD programming is moved no dome will be able to get Direct TV HD programming. Go to the KVH web site for a complete explanation. Dish network will continue HD programming in the current KU band so domes will be able to receive HD programming from Dish Network. Sounds like KVH maybe working at making a few extra dollars if the poster that knows the DTV engineering rep knows what he is talking about. I can't see DTV forcing all their customers to change dishes as that would not only affect the domes but also all the dishes?

RE: Water Spots on Aluminum Wheels

This is absolutely the best polish I've use and I've tried a bunch. Purple Polish Takes very little on a small Mother's polishing ball in the Cordless drill and about 30 mins. a wheel (that includes waxing after polishing).

RE: Freezer Smell

We had a similar thing happen (I left a lb of sausage in the feezer and put it in storage - during the summer). I scrubbed it done with a baking soda and water mixture a couple of times a day for 3-4 days and then put a box of baking soda in both sides. It got rid of our problem. PS: When I stepped in the MH I thought somebody had murdered somebody and put them in our MH!!!! Our freezer was open so it made the whole MH smell. Had to wash all the bedding, etc.

RE: Two questions - fuel in TN and camping in Pidgon Forge

Bill, I can't remember the name of the place we stayed at, but I think it was in Sieverville. Was a nice campground although a little ways off I-40.

Very strange leak?

We were out last weekend in the pouring rain all day on Saturday. The DW went back later in the afternoon (after rain had about stopped) and there was a wet spot in the middle of the floor going between the bathroom and bedroom (vinyl to carpet transition). The floor was not even damp anywhere other that this one spot. I had taken a shower that afternoon and that was the only water that had been run in the bathroom. I crawled under the coach and couldn't see any leaks. Is it possible the leak is coming from the gray or black tank vent?

RE: Driving a MH is still the cheapest way to travel.

I'm sure you realize that you did not include the cost of your rig, taxes, tag and maintenance. Don't get me wrong, I love the motorhome idea as much a you and can't wait to make the trip you just made, but I am still writing that monthly payment to the bank. Good luck and God's speed. Think the point is "if" you have a MH it is cheaper to use it than do the motel and meals thing? PS: add the cost of the setting MH to your car/plane + motels + meals cost?

RE: Motorhome fire

Great info Mark! Now I have one more thing to worry about? Can you give us a hip shot on total costs and how long it took you to install?

RE: LCD TV Install

One question for you guys that have done this. I've read that the LCDs need more ventilation for their increased heat. Are all of you relying on the old vent that was there for the original TV? I'm in the early planning stages and didn't know if I needed to add a whisper fan to cover the heat build up?

RE: How to register MH to avoid personal property tax

Just pay your taxes like the rest of us.. Ditto.........double ditto......Tax Evasion can become very expensive by the way...... I say the heck with u tax loving pepole. Get out of paying that tax anyway u can. TN is a great place to register it. I'll second the get out of taxes statement. South Dakota will be my home of residence in 2 yrs. and maybe a little sooner if I can get there and get the driver's license and registrations switched!

RE: Bike rack

We have about the same set up when we used to tow the bike trailer. I have an extension in my receiver and that is what the bike rack is mounted to.
